Pictures from the pond and Hollywood

Tut tut, there's a turtle on that rock!

See anything amazing?

Ginger: "hi, ducks!"

A man nearby was fishing and throwing the fish he caught to this heron to eat.

Heh heh. I just think paw prints are so cute! Not sure why...

Here's Nancy when we were in Hollywood. "I'm so excited!" She said, but you probably already know that since she has her hands up in the air. Sorry, I forgot to take more pictures of Hollywood.

Fun facts about dolphins from National Geographic and photos

1. Some dolphins live in salt water, and some live in fresh water.

2. Dolphins can't breathe underwater. Blowholes located in they're heads open and close, allowing the dolphins to breathe. Just like humans, they have to come to the water's surface to breathe.

3. Bottlenose dolphins send messages to each other in different ways. They squeak and whistle and use body language; leaping as high as 20 feet (6 meters) in the air, snapping they're jaws, slapping they're tails on the surface of the water, and even butting they're heads.

4. Each individual dolphin has it's own signature whistle.

5. Bottlenose dolphins are called bottlenose dolphins because they're beaks are shaped like bottles.

For more facts about dolphins, go to nationalgeographic.com and search "dolphin facts".
All five of these facts are from National Geographic. The photos below I found on Google Images. Well, except for this dolphin on the pillow below, which is my own photo and my own (plastic) dolphin. I put her on the pillow to take the photo because I haven't gotten a dresser yet.

Tips for the beach

What to bring:

Coconut water (if you accidentally swallow some salt water it stops the burning in your throat.)
Leggings or jeans and a sweater (the water at the beach is freezing, so the outside near it is pretty cold too.)
A surfboard or boogie board (I really wonder why they named it a boogie board. But anyway, the waves at the beach are really big, perfect for a little surfing or laying on the board and letting the waves give you a ride.)

What to wear in the water:

A wet suit, because, as I said, the water is freezing!

In-the-water tips:

If the water starts sucking you away from shore, try to get out as fast as you can, unless you want to be scraped painfully across the sand. (This happened to me a of couple times.) Even though the sand is very soft, when your being scraped against it it hurts.

Even if you don't have a surfboard or boogie board, you can still ride the waves. Just wait until you see a wave, wade over to it, cover your face, (only cover your face if it's a really big wave.) and stand with your back facing the wave. Then it will take you on a short but very fun ride.

Wearing goggles helps to keep the water out of your eyes.

Hope these are helpful!

Happy Birthday, Animal Jam!

Hi!

We're in California! I haven't made a tour of our apartment yet, but I will soon. Do any of you play Animal Jam? Today is Animal Jam's 3rd birthday!

Also, Halloween is coming up soon! I'm going to dress up as either Hermione Granger or Luna Lovegood. (Who's your favorite character in Harry Potter? My favorite character is Ron, but I can't dress up as him because he's a boy.) My doll is going to be a princess fairy. I'll make sure to have a Halloween post full of tricks and treats. : P What's your favorite part of Halloween? I can't decide.

Cupcakes,
Zoe

P.S. Sorry this is such a short post!

Surprise!

Hello!

I know I said I would post photos of my birthday, but, I'm sorry, I can't find them. We took them on my dad's phone and he has a LOT of photos on there so we couldn't find mine. Next year when I turn 12 I'll post the pictures right away.

Ok, so, you're probably wondering why the title of this post is Surprise!. Well, I'll tell you. We're moving to California! We used to live in Colorado, but you might already know that because my mom has the website and cookbooks, The Spunky Coconut, and she already said that we're moving on her blog.

I was going to not tell you this until we got to our apartment in California. I was going to take a video of me giving you a tour of the apartment, and in the beginning I was going to show you the palm trees outside to "prove" that we really had moved to California and it wasn't a joke. But I'll still do that. LOL.

So, today we're in Las Vegas. We're crashing at my mom's friend's house. Tomorrow we're going to keep on driving to California. Las Vegas is pretty close to California so it won't take much longer. Have you ever gone on a really really long car ride?

I have to go now because my dad needs the computer. But one more thing. I loooooove One Direction!!! I also really like Taylor Swift. Comment down below if you like One Direction or Taylor Swift. Or you could listen to each of these videos and say which one you like better. If you don't like One Direction or Taylor Swift, tell me what band/singer you do like. But you should probably ask your parents first if you can watch the videos. They might not want you going on YouTube by yourself. My parents don't.
