What to bring:
Coconut water (if you accidentally swallow some salt water it stops the burning in your throat.)
Leggings or jeans and a sweater (the water at the beach is freezing, so the outside near it is pretty cold too.)
A surfboard or boogie board (I really wonder why they named it a boogie board. But anyway, the waves at the beach are really big, perfect for a little surfing or laying on the board and letting the waves give you a ride.)
What to wear in the water:
A wet suit, because, as I said, the water is freezing!
In-the-water tips:
If the water starts sucking you away from shore, try to get out as fast as you can, unless you want to be scraped painfully across the sand. (This happened to me a of couple times.) Even though the sand is very soft, when your being scraped against it it hurts.
Even if you don't have a surfboard or boogie board, you can still ride the waves. Just wait until you see a wave, wade over to it, cover your face, (only cover your face if it's a really big wave.) and stand with your back facing the wave. Then it will take you on a short but very fun ride.
Wearing goggles helps to keep the water out of your eyes.
Hope these are helpful!
Rainbows,
Zoe
